Light can create drama and has a substantial effect on the meaning of a painting. Today I set up to paint Barton perched on some Victorian novels with a hot with a cup of tea. The only difference between these 2 images is the light – one has indirect light from a North facing window, the other has direct Westerly sunlight. How does each one make you feel and which do you prefer?
